"Spiritual Awakening" really hits me tonight as I pray. Lord, I cry to You for the sports world to know Jesus Christ! "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other Name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12). May there be a mighty MOVEMENT of Competitors for Christ and a great spiritual awakening among Your people and among the lost! In Jesus Name!!

Tammy Adler - Texas - April 12th, 2024 at 12:20am

I will use this prayer time to raise new warriors for Me in the arenas and on the fields across this country. I am changing the sports world one person at a time. Don't give up believing I can still do miracles today.

Chris - April 12th, 2024 at 1:30am

Strengthen, embolden, encourage faithful followers of you Jesus!

Andrew Leung - April 12th, 2024 at 2:37am

Spiritual awakening for athletes and coaches in the sports world was a consistent theme as I prayed. I was constantly reminded of the story of the prodigal son and connected it with how athletes that are lost spiritually are returning home to the lord and he's standing there with arms wide open welcoming them back.

Jeff Boettger - April 12th, 2024 at 4:32am

Praise, honor, glory and power be to our Jesus! He is the initiator, sustainer and finisher of our faith. His faithfulness is mind blowing, and this is his work. Fellowship with Jesus, walk with the Holy Spirit, seek him and share his truth & he will change the sporting culture as a tsunami of his grace pours out.

God is Love, Truth, Grace, Holy.

This prayer time is his catalyst for transformation.

Psalm 24; Psalm 25:1-15; Psalm 91:1-2

Thankful!

Reese Braband - Virginia - April 12th, 2024 at 4:37am

God put Psalm 145 on my heart to pray through and sing praises to his name.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable (vs. 3).

My prayer this morning focused on Liberty University and all of the Athletes, administrators, and University leaders.

I am thankful for the amazing things God is doing through this University and I pray for the continued discipleship of athletes and specifically for those who are lost and are in need of a Savior. Thank you Father, God, that we can come before you and you hear our prayers today!

Priscilla Ziefle - April 12th, 2024 at 4:43am

God is so so good! I reflected on God's faithfulness in saving 7 teammates in the past 4 years and softening many other hearts.

I prayed for a SPIRITUAL AWAKENING in our nation starting in the sports community.

God also showed me an idol I have in my life that is hindering my relationship with Him. This realization felt like a smack in the face.

Praise be to God for His love and endless mercy to us! There is no One like our God.

Chris Adkins - Lamb - April 12th, 2024 at 5:17am

The Lord took our time together in to OT! Praise God for this glimpse into His victory!!! So honored and humbled to walk with our Savior and fellow believers in this special time. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Sibylle - April 12th, 2024 at 5:58am

I felt called this morning to pray for bold leaders in their sports to take a stand for Jesus, even if it's costly.

Clliff Shaw (Texas) - April 12th, 2024 at 6:14am

1 Peter 1:8 is the verse God gave me tonight before my prayer time. Thanks for letting me be a part of this special prayer time. May the Lord continue to bless us all as we minister to the people He has given us to reach and teach about our Lord Jesus.

Mark Crouch - Buffalo, NY - April 12th, 2024 at 6:43am

Praying for athletes by name was powerful. We do not know everyone's story but we know God loves them and His grace is sufficient.

Also, praying for opportunity. Opportunity for myself, coaches, parents and even players to have influence. To have opportunity to speak the name of Jesus. To reflect His light. To give Him all glory.

Casey Dornbach - April 12th, 2024 at 7:05am

He is the Power Source and there is always something to be grateful for

Celeste Osborne (Oklahoma) - April 12th, 2024 at 7:32am

Isaiah 40:31 says.... But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Brenda Oakes - April 12th, 2024 at 7:46am

I prayed Ephesians 1v17-22 that the Father of glory would give revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of their hearts enlightened, that they may know what is the hope to which He has called them. I also prayed Ephesians 4v1-8 as leaders, they would walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which they have been called... with all humility, eager to maintain unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Todd Winder - April 12th, 2024 at 7:58am

Praying for a culture change in the hockey world and also in the wider area of sports. Praying that each athlete has an opportunity to hear about the Glory of God through different avenues (teammates, family, friends, own journey)

Heather Wall (Clarkston, MI) - April 12th, 2024 at 8:01am

May the Lord permeate the sports world and pour out an unstoppable fire for the name of Jesus to be honored and glorified and lifted up! May our leaders, nation, churches, universities, schools, businesses, teams be transformed into powerhouses for speaking the name of Jesus.

Randy Steinert - April 12th, 2024 at 8:04am

He is able to far more than I could ask or think, but He still wants me to ask and think.

Cooper Neal- Virginia - April 12th, 2024 at 8:09am

My prayer today is that the Lord continue to break down walls in the hearts of the lost and for those who do know Jesus already, they come to know him deeper and completely. Praying for spiritual awakening in the church as well as the lost. That somehow someway, those who are lost will come to know him in the sports world. We give thanks to him for this opportunity and for working in Gary to get this thing going!! Psalm 145:10- All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord!

Rick Fossier, Atlanta (prayed in Tampa) - April 12th, 2024 at 8:10am

That beautiful Psalm 23 was at the center of my prayers, that every male and every female athlete, and the coaches, and the siblings, and the parents would have their hearts unmistakably moved and know that our Lord IS their shepherd, and that it is He and it is only He that can and will restore their souls if they will open the door and receive His love, His offer of grace and forgiveness. I pray for these athletes and others, that we would all humble ourselves under His beautiful authority.

Steve Gillquist (Minnesota) - April 12th, 2024 at 8:22am

Great intimate time of prayer and worship with our Lord this morning praying and uplifting our brothers and sisters in Christ around our country!

Philippians 4:19. And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

Mark ainsley - April 12th, 2024 at 8:27am

More than ever i /we need to pray for oir children. The evil one is smarter than us. He is attacking our children. Pray God gives us wisdom and we see him. Place God in the watchtower of our homes

Mark Rolewicz - April 12th, 2024 at 8:32am

Christ has overcome death so we can overcome whatever challenges we may face, so we are empowered by the grace of God to tell others about him.

Shaye Fox - April 12th, 2024 at 8:48am

May our Lord Jesus open the door for our athletes in the hockey world to shine their light for you. May God keep evil out of our teams, organizations and families. I pray dear God that jealousy would leave our parents and athletes hearts and be filled with love and teamwork. God open doors for our organization to bond them together.

This was an unbelievable honor to be able to pray for our athletes and hockey organizations across the nation.

Can't wait to see what God will do in all our lives!!

Kelly Fay - April 12th, 2024 at 3:38pm

I was so honored and humbled to beseech the Lord in my prayer closet this afternoon. I felt like I was carrying the baton on the backs of the many who have stood in the gap before me. I have been moved in recent weeks to pray by name for those I know on specific teams, for the athletes and coaches. It was a moving experience to pray again for each of them today, for salvation for those who don't yet know Jesus, and for boldness and strength to be godly examples and witnesses as those who are already followers of Christ. I felt the Lord showing me to reach out to the young athletes I know, to encourage them in the race, to build them up in the faith. I greatly appreciated the prayer guide and plan to use it again in the future. Especially personally convicting was the guide on confession. I pray that He will help me be more concerned with serving Him than caring for the approval of the world, that I will be bold to share the gospel, and never be ashamed to shine His light.

What an incredible experience today to pray boldly before our mighty God!!

Ken and Nancy Gallemore - April 12th, 2024 at 8:52am

We will be praying for families and how the enemy uses them in so many ways to cause break ups and keep them in each other's minds! The enemy will destroy whomever he chooses! This affects so many families!

James Jalbert - April 12th, 2024 at 9:07am

Jesus bring revival! Open doors, hearts and minds to the truth of your Gospel! Jesus in organizations that may seem doors are closed or that have been slammed we pray for keys to open through competitors who want to know you and make you known!

Josh Harrell - April 12th, 2024 at 9:08am

Praying for the Lord to remove any worldly distractions from our Godly leaders, and that we are able to run the race God has set before us with endurance. Praying Matthew 11:28-30 for those of us that may be feeling spiritually tired.. you give us rest Lord,, your yoke is easy and burden is light! Extra thankful today that the Lord always faithful in how He moves through the power of prayer! God always shows up bigger and better than we can imagine.. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as in Heaven! In Jesus name, Amen!

Mitch Fossier (Georgia - April 12th, 2024 at 9:36am

I prayed for God to capture the hearts of our leaders so they may set a standard with God at the forefront. I prayed for the Lord's guidance in my own heart and other believers amongst my profession to be led in every situation - that our path will be made clear as to give praise to Jesus and nudge others in His direction.

Jamie Ramer - April 12th, 2024 at 10:41am

Praying that sports leaders, coaches and athletes alike will find their hope in the Lord! Psalm 39:7 'and so Lord, where do I put my Hope? My only hope is in you.'

Dan Huntington - April 12th, 2024 at 10:42am

During my prayer time, I felt the idea that God is about to do amazing things in the lives of competitors and the fans who watch them compete, across this country and then the world.

Aaron Still - April 12th, 2024 at 11:10am

Praying for those in the FCA Baseball Community in Brevard County and the GWMLL that I'm blessed to be a part of. Praying that more players will be lights on the teams they're a part of in HS and coaches that can make an incredible impact on and off the field! The Lord can do great things.

Christian Beckett - April 12th, 2024 at 11:11am

Throughout my prayer time this morning, I kept coming back to two thoughts. First, that my teammates and competitors will notice a noticeable difference in how I play and act as a result of the Lord's love and strength. Second, praise God for the magnificent things He is going to do through each of us and throughout the globe. Ephesians 3:20-21 was the verse that came to me and was placed perfectly at the end of the prayer guide.

Ben - April 12th, 2024 at 12:58pm

Praying for hearts to be healed. To plant the spirit of Truth. To help many know that Christ redeems and helps ALL overcome the evil one. For many hockey players to have their minds transformed. For deliverance from the grip of sin, and for new affections to be planted!

Jake Larson (MN) - April 12th, 2024 at 1:24pm

My prayer today is for those who serve in the sports world. I pray that their boldness echos those who have served before us.. from the puritans, to the reformers, to the apostles who were persecuted for preaching Christ. May we too have the boldness to proclaim the fullness of truth found in the Holy Scriptures, which God has graciously given to us. I pray that our boldness would be rooted deep in our love for Christ, and more importantly out of the love He has for His saints. "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Danelle - April 12th, 2024 at 1:26pm

I pray Christians at all levels and positions in sports would have an increased influence in their sporting community to affect the culture for Christ.

Ranon Joseph - April 12th, 2024 at 1:29pm

I've been going through some spiritual warfare and have been struggling with some stuff as of late but today God told me to start reading Ephesians during my prayer time, so for the last 10 minutes I read and the Living Word is something else! God is truly too Good to us and I just wanna live for him fully and see what he has in store for my life!

Jim Blythe (Oklahoma) - April 12th, 2024 at 2:02pm

Psalm 54 is a powerful prayer when fighting the enemy's influence and deceitfulness of sin. Lord I pray for strong marriages and family units. Lord please guide us as parents and coaches in helping develop Christian competitors in youth sports.

Chris Kerr - April 12th, 2024 at 2:23pm

As I was praying today I just had this overwhelming feeling of creator and savior. Not only did God create me, he saved me. He created me for fellowship with him and gave me the route to accomplish it. Just really loved chewing on that and giving praise to my creator and savior. In addition, as I was praying over the strength and conditioning community, identity was really at the forefront. It's a time of year when so many athletes are done with school, school seasons, etc. and now they need to figure out who they are. May all of the weight room warriors help them to know who they are in Christ, not in their sport.

Josh Logan - April 12th, 2024 at 2:26pm

When praying this morning, the Lord really laid it on my heart to trust in Him above all things. A big focus the Lord laid on my heart was his deity and his sovereignty! He also laid on my Romans 1:16 and 12:2 as to never be ashamed of the Gospel, and to be set apart from this world!

Cole Godfrey - April 12th, 2024 at 2:29pm

I feel so blessed to be a part of the pure encouragement community. Today I was praying over the whole PE staff and all of the men who are involved in the Journey group Bible study. Praying that there is a movement of men that continue to seek Jesus and want to be their best for God, their families, and the community!

Sam Feamster - April 12th, 2024 at 3:02pm

Prayer day was an awesome way to bring so many people together. It was powerful seeing how many people want the Lord to work in many different areas of sports and education.

Barry Lem - April 12th, 2024 at 3:21pm

The Lord has been speaking to my heart to, "throw a bigger net!". Those of us in the sports world need to go beyond our comfort zone of our particular sport and region. We need to be sharing the Good News more globally and with all sports.

Corder - April 12th, 2024 at 3:25pm

As I led our team Bible study this morning and into this national day of prayer, Proverbs 3:3-12 has been sitting on my heart and mind. Especially in stressful times in the year, trusting in God and His plan rather than our own understanding is crucial. Without God we are nothing, so why would we think we know better than him? Learning to trust in God in the hard times, loving God with all your heart, being generous and giving to others not just what you have leftover but the best of what you have, because the LORD has our back always, and will always be leading us down the right path and keeping our path straight, as long as we stay true and faithful to Him. Help us all Lord to renew our minds while reading Your Word, so that we may trust in You completely, and obey Your commands. Thank you Jesus!!

Dawn - April 12th, 2024 at 3:58pm

Thankful that Gary took the initiative to make this day of prayer happen for the sports works. One focal point I had was Praying over existing governing bodies for the sports community and that as terms end that Biblical based leaders rise up to take those positions. Another point I covered in prayer was for chaplains in sports to rise up even more and take their place for a time such as this.

Rev. 5:13 - I heard every creature in heaven and earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying," To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever." Amen! It's all for you Jesus.

Barb - April 12th, 2024 at 4:40pm

As I prayed today, my heart went to two areas! Joshua 1:9 for courage, strength and perseverance for all athletes both physically and spiritually! Run the race God has for you!

I felt strongly to pray for our athletes to telease their outcome expectations and walk through the doors that are opening for them with courage and open hearts! If your outcome and where God leads you are in alignment, then I prayed that you notice God's hand in all of it 🙏

Kelly Fay - April 12th, 2024 at 5:28pm

That is profound. I saved your comment to remind me to pray that way. Thank you!

Dave - April 12th, 2024 at 5:25pm

I am grateful for the work the Lotd is doing through Gary's life. To be confident enough to take on a sports community far from Jesus and speak truth to those that will listen. The Lord works in mysterious ways and I pray that He hears all of us today!

Mike Zumpano - April 12th, 2024 at 6:00pm

God is releasing vision to those who seek and believe in Him. His promises Spirit is available to all who do so that he can bring Himself praise and glory through them. The lacrosse community is a group of warriors and peacemakers who help worship and honor Him as the Creator. He is bringing all things to Himself and he will use this community to make Him known.

May we be found diligent and faithful in lifting up the name of Jesus in trying times, to fulfill this purpose according to His will.

Lehmann Family - April 12th, 2024 at 6:16pm

Praise the Lord for this powerful and rewarding experience to pray together for athletes standing up for the faith. While we may not all be apart of an athletic team, each member of the body if Christ, is a competitor for Christ. We pray for more strong and family men and women of God to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus and the Gospel of salvation in the world we interact with daily. We are on a mission to win souls for the glory of God.

Jeff Evans - April 12th, 2024 at 6:24pm

My thoughts during prayer time:

Balance- Jesus is both Lion and lamb! Competitors generally have a Lion personality which makes them powerful warriors in their sport. When they embrace their identity in Christ they may find themselves having to work on being a lamb. Humility, meekness and forgiveness are not easy for a Lion, but an abiding relationship with Christ makes way for all things to be possible.

Influence- The sports world has one of the largest influences of warriors! Some for Jesus, some for the devil. I pray for revival and a powerful move of the Holy Spirit to over take that area of influence in our world!

-Praise for Pure Encouragement and all the team involved who obediently follow Christ! You rock Gary!

Encouraged- I am encouraged by how many athletes are proclaiming the name of Jesus in the media now days. Stay bold, strong and courageous! Let their words match their walk with Christ. Father protect them, Holy Spirit lead them in the paths of righteousness! To God, Jesus, Holy Spirit be all the praise and glory!! Amen!

Terri - April 12th, 2024 at 6:52pm

So thankful to have a Father in Heaven that we can cry, Abba and he hears our prayers. He is a living God, near to all who seek Him. All praise and honor to you King Jesus.

Lane Skon - April 12th, 2024 at 7:44pm

What a day to praise and thank our King for the faithfulness He has in us and the blessings He has bestowed upon us. This is an amazing moment to drag vulnerability and desires for the world of sports to transform for His kingdom. The Lord wants to hear our hearts in its entirety and how we long for His presence to be known. God is as present in our sports world as ever before, and He has big plans to continue His outreach through us as His hood and faithful servants.

Michelle Steffes (FL) - April 12th, 2024 at 8:42pm

I felt led to pray for Christian athletes, specifically for their HEARTS. First, that they would see the hearts of their teammates as Jesus does. That they would have the mind, heart, and eyes of Christ to see beyond the exterior into the heart of those around them. This is their mission field; may their hearts be stirred with compassion as Christ's was when He walked this earth.

Second, I prayed that they would leave their own hearts bare before the Lord. That they would live in honesty & humility before God, allowing Him to work and move powerfully through them because their hearts are thoroughly His and completely open before Him. Let nothing be hidden.

This was my prayer for myself as well as for every believing athlete across the nation.

I also prayed for specific athletes by name for salvation. Thank You Jesus, for so many people who are coming before You in prayer today!

Jill - South Carolina - April 12th, 2024 at 9:07pm

Thankful that as we trust Him with every aspect of sports, He will be doing "far more abundantly than all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20). A God sized vision goes beyond!

George Smith (Florida) - April 12th, 2024 at 9:11pm

God put on my heart: Colossians 1:13 "He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son" , and Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! Stand firm then..."

As I prayed for athletes and coaches to know the freedom and peace that God will give, they stand firm.

God encouraged my heart and energized my body, going from tiredness to energy as I prayed! What a great time to be united with so many others in prayer.

Halli Gravley - April 12th, 2024 at 9:40pm

Such a sweet time mediating on scripture and praying over my school, team, coaches, and the sports world!

Ruth Smith (Florida) - April 12th, 2024 at 9:56pm

The thirty minutes flew by as I followed the prompts in the Prayer Guide. May this be the start to a National Revival where millions surrender to the Lord Jesus for salvation and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Marc Bourdon - April 12th, 2024 at 9:57pm

In Acts 11:17, Peter says '' who Am I to stand in God's way? ''. I had boldness, trust, and faithfulness when opportunities to share His name arise on my heart today. Peter followed the Lord's directions and went to Cornelius even though he was perplexed by what was asked of him. I pray for that same trust and eagerness to follow Him in the sports community.

Ben Hughes - April 12th, 2024 at 10:19pm

God pushed this verse into my heart during prayer; "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth" Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬. Asking the Lord for greater spiritual strength to not be caught up in the world and its approval! Praying for God to make more transformational coaches by giving their life to Christ and boldness for those of us you have called into their lives.

Nathan Ketchum - April 12th, 2024 at 11:45pm

I prayed that God would move in the lives of our athletes and coaches. That we would be constantly seeking Him, and that we would be able to listen for His voice and seek His will.

Chris Heaton - April 13th, 2024 at 12:40am

Isaiah 43:19 NLT

For I am about to do something new.

See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

I will make a pathway through the wilderness.

I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Revelation 21:5-7 NLT

And the one sitting on the throne said, "Look, I am making everything new!" And then he said to me, "Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true." And he also said, "It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega-the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

Father, God,

We thank you for doing new things! You are making a way for us to reach new areas, teams, and organizations around the country with Pure Encouragement. Thank you for allowing us to bring living water to those parched in the desert. We get to be a part of bringing others to experience intimacy with Christ! Holy Spirit, bring the thirsty forward so we can go get them!

In Jesus' mighty name we pray,

Amen!
